BUT....until I get a home security service by BRINKS or ADT (something I'll probably be able to afford sooner than a stand up rifle vault), I definitely will install this COOL amazing and inexpensive phoney surveillance cameras at my front and back doors.

AEA,
a 2.0 cu. foot safe is relatively "small", right?

When you said:
"Oh, and I recommend that you get a safe with a real combination lock and not battery operated push buttons.
They are OK for small safes, but for large safes, you should have a REAL Safe Lock".
And the keyboard(safe) is backed up by a key, I'll carry on my key ring(not just batteries).
Would that be alright.....until I someday "graduate" to a LARGE vault safe that can store rifles too, friend?[/quote]

Tallmike,
I like key "back ups" in-case I ever forget the keypad combination....but just not dials.
Well, as is my nature.....I research intensively and make quick decisions.
Mine cost the same as yours and is 2 cu. ft., but minimally fire protection.
I heard folks advocating both kink vehemently (fire retarded...and minimally not) The "minimal fire protection guys where bringing up that the fire retardant was so moisture prone that every steel object in the was sure to rust. So, I got bags of desiccant and minimal fire retardant protection.
thanks everyone!
