I have to leave in AM to stop off at mobile, sleep , then port st lucie spend night, hug a friend, crash on their couch, then grab grandchild and dog and back to mobile, sleep and home. taking 4 days so not much wiggle room for sightseeing
Thank goodness my route is through firearm friendly states.
sure wish it was not new years weekend

Re: long drive
Yucky. The older I get the more I hate road trips. Unfortunately over the past few years I’ve also developed gephyrophobia. Fear of bridges and overpasses. Good luck and stay safe.

Re: long drive
I love road trips. Especially on my Harley. When I am facing icy roads, I am not a fan of road trips on my Harley or in my truck. 7 years or so ago, I was headed to bike week in Florida on my Harley. When I left Dallas, there were ice patches on the roads here and there all over the place. It was downright frightening to hit an ice patch. The ice finally disappeared once I got south of Dallas. Because of the ice headed east, I decided to head towards Houston and catch 10 from there. Talk about a long ride. Once the ice threat was over, it was great ride. Cold as a well diggers shovel, but still nice. The next year I purchased heated gear that works off the bike battery. Now I can ride in 20 degree weather and be toasty warm. People look at me like I am crazy because they don't know I am heated under my cloths and jacket. Be safe and have a good trip!

Re: long drive
2400 or so miles, got home on sat afternoon
longest day was about 13 hrs of seat time due to wrecks on floridas turnpike.
funniest thing was this notice on my gps screen. a few miles earlier it told me to exit to avoid a slow down. mind you i am 40 miles from tyler and now way am i getting stuck on hwy 80 and redlights
so after i passed the TURN now call from HAL...it recomputes route and BOOM this pops up
not sure if it was trying to be funny

Have a good friend in PSL. Wave as you pass by please. :) Safe travels.
It's fine if you disagree. I can't force you to be correct.
