How far in advance

Post by tomneal »

My CHL expires this fall.
How far in advance can I renew?

Tom...

I'd try to get it all done and ready to send it (completed package) off to Austin at least 90-120 days before your current license expires...Just to be on the safe side...

I'm going to test the theory out on my wife's renewal...We'll see how that goes...

I saw someone here got a really good turnaround, but I forget if that was for an initial license or a renewal...They got it off to Austin, and recieved their license in about 40 days...

But we know renewals have the luxury of time...And that getting everything done and off in a timely manner obviously gives us an overlap, and a low chance of having that little card in your wallet lapse...

DPS should send you a letter 6 months prior to your birthday. The letter should contain your PIN and, with that, you can start the renewal process online. After you complete that, they will send you a packet already filled in with the info you provided to them. As soon as you get that, then you are ready to take your renewal class.

Good luck to you!

Methinks txi is correct - 6 months is the longest prior to birth day that TR-100 can be dated. But, DPS has 45 days to process - and it sometimes take 'em longer, so git 'er all done well in advance if ya don't want to risk a lapse.

Unfortunately, I have students quite often who've procrastinated until the 11'th hour - or beyond! And then go naked until it comes in the mail ...

I have been "naked" (without gun) since the 23rd of Dec., not by reason of procrastination, but by lack of time. The DPS has had my renewal since the first week of Dec., when I check the status on-line...it indicates it is still being processed. So apparently, I will be "naked" for some time to come still,(not their fault).

IH8BEINGNAKED!

Next "go round", work can just wait....and I'll get my renewal done sooner.

That's what I am trying to avoid

I am a natural procrastinator (but at least I am doing something)

To avoid procrastination, I am trying to start REAL early.

Hah! I shouldn't have to remind a preacher man of Genesis 2:25....

Referring to Adam and Eve: KJV. Gen. 2:25..."And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed".

Of course, this was before the "fall".

(just kidding).

I do feel N_ked without my pistol. Please hurry Austin!

Yes before the fall & I don't want to FALL VICTIM because I am naked either. Seriously, I would have a tough time living w/ no defence if needed "because I forgot." That did not work when I was in 3rd grade & it won't work when we give account either.

No worry.

This will not get off topic, as another thread started to.

Besides, LT and I are both "on the same page" as concerns the Bible.

But, here's a question: Anyone think that "self defense" is not Biblical?
