Grand Prairie police are asking the Dallas County DA's office to consider charges after a homeowner walked out armed when officers showed up at his house by mistake.
I am a supporter of the police, a lifetime member of the 100 Club, volunteer with our local PD citizen's patrol and am a member of an organization that raises thousands of dollars for them as well as providing equipment and even trained dogs for the canine unit, which cost about 15K. With that said I believe anyone with the authority to kill those who they consider a threat has the ultimate duty to assure they are correct when they perform a raid, serve warrants or any other action and to do less is criminally negligent, IMO. Qualified immunity is the worst thing that has been allowed and no knock raids should be outlawed. The militarization of police forces has exacerbated the problem. I realize the police were given the incorrect address, but that doesn't excuse not announcing their identity as police. Using often erroneous computers to signify locations the lazy 911 caller should have verified the address for the caller and cross checked it. I would like to hear the nature of and details of the 911 call, also.
I wonder if the police were wearing body cams and if they were activated.

Interesting thanks for posting.
Fired 8 times, after he said he dropped his gun. Hit in the leg. Lucky guy.
I’m still of the belief that you don’t open a door armed or not to anyone who comes to your house who is unknown to you.
I agree opening the door was not a good idea.

Things to keep in the back of your mind.
What exactly are they considering charging the man with? Being armed in his own house?
4/13/1996 Completed CHL Class, 4/16/1996 Fingerprints, Affidavits, and Application Mailed, 10/4/1996 Received CHL, renewed 1998, 2002, 2006, 2011, 2016...). "ATF... Uhhh...heh...heh....Alcohol, tobacco, and GUNS!! Cool!!!!"

Doesn't matter what the charges are, the punishment is the lawyer fees he will have to pay in order to defend his actions.
