Thanks to our forefathers

In his "Commonplace Book," so stated Jefferson this quote by Cesare Beccaria,

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man

this statement below by Cesare has some needed application for today

punishment should be proportionate to the crime committed; the certainty of punishment, not its severity, would achieve the preventive effect; procedures of criminal convictions should be public; and finally, in order to be effective, punishment should be prompt.

Look at what the society is now. You whack somebody and serve 7-8 years, if that.

And for many of them, it's an expenses-paid, extended class reunion, as their buddies are there too.
"If a man breaks in your house, he ain't there for iced tea." Mom & Dad.

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.
