I have a great wife!

Post by AFJailor »

I have a great wife, she surprised me with a brand spankin' new Glock 22 for my birthday!

My wife is very "in to" the whole firearms thing, but she never really showed interest in anything I didnt show her first. This however, was done all on her own, which makes it even better. The only time I even mentioned the gun was many months ago when I was talking about the plano PD and their duty weapon.

It came with 3 15 round mags and the little rod/brush combo all for $420.

I think I might change out the guide rod for a steel one, I just dont feel comfortable with that little bit of plastic in there. A extended slide stop is also in the works, as well as some night sights. (Either XS big dots, or TFO sights)

Pretty excited to take it to the range, this is assuming that my work/home schedule ever allows me a few hours to drive out to the range.

I would post pics but...we all know that glocks all look the same.

Congrats on your new blaster. Go for the TFO's. They're much better than the big dot imho. As for the plastic guide rod, unless you plan on puting several thousand rounds of full power ammo a week down range, I doubt you'll ever have any trouble with it.

Sounds like that wife of yours is a keeper too.

I have tried to ''fix'' both Sig's and Glock's several time's and alway's end up going back to part's made by the manufacturer. For the normal everyday use they come pretty well fixed.

Yea, that seems to be the general concensus (sp?) amongst most glock owners. So I might just get the night sights and call it quits.

I agree with Ted. Any wife that enjoys guns and shooting is a good wife. Your are twice blessed in that she not only enjoys guns and shooting but she also knows how to by a gift you will actually like and get some use out of. My wife just got me a .308 rifle for Christmas so though she isn't a "gun gal" she has kept me interested for at least one more year. :smilelol5:

I completely agree with skipping an aftermarket guide rod.....I have replaced one recoil spring assembly on my Glock 17 (That my wife bought for me  ) and it was after about 20k rounds. The stock part is your best bet and the spring weight is perfect IMO. Replace it every year if you really want to be sure...it is a $5.00 investment.

Great gift!
