Went to the show (Silver Spur). Nothing seemed to follow me home.
What was interesting was going in to it. Held at the Civic Center exhibit hall (well, 1/2 of it anyway). I did NOT see a 30.06 sign at the main door, but thinking that there was, I went in unarmed.
Out of curiosity, I asked the LE on duty (checking for loaded firearms) what the 'policy' on concealed carry was. Just got a sort of blank stare. To further clarify, I asked him "what is the 30.06 status in relation to this gun show?" Another blank stare, then he pointed to a sign on the desk (8-1/2 x 11) that was to the effect of the facility owners don't want loaded firearms in here. Then in print about 1/8 to 3/16" (think footnote) tall was a vague reference to a violation resulting and being charged with ________________ (don't remember what it said) pursuant to 30.06.
Sort of odd thinks I.
Probably could have beat the rap, but most likely would have had to get a lawyer to beat the rap.
Anyone ever encounter such as this? Just struck me odd in the way it was posted and the LE not being very knowledgeable on something that should be known by LE, especially at a gun show!

I was there today also, like you I disarmed prior to entry and never saw a 30.06 sign. I was looking at some holsters and mentioned that I am always looking for good concealment holsters when a uniformed officer (Looked like he was browsing the tables himself) informed me carry was forbidden and I would have to leave. I removed and showed him my empty IWB holster and explained that I had assumed it was posted and didn't carry. I got an apology and was told be sure not to carry in there as they did not want a ND. On another note it is rather easy to remove an empty IWB holster without unbuckling, replacing it is another story.
I got some more 1911 mags, some AR mags, and a cheap holster for my Super Blackhawk. I saw a complete Remington Rand 1911 (Looked legit) an Essex 1911 frame with a Remington Rand slide on it being pushed as the real deal, The usual spattering of Kimbers, ARs, Springfield Armory pistols. I noticed about 1/3 fewer Glocks at this show, an above average number of Winchester commemoratives, not very many single action revolvers. The one gun I would have hit the ATM and got money for wasn't present, But an Armscor 1911 and a number of 1911 parts almost made me pay a visit to the ATM (I was able to resist buying another 1911).

How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

The Civic Center used to have a 30.06 sign, but it was removed a couple of years ago, as the building is owned by the city and thereby can't be posted 30.06. The gun show does have have a no loaded firearms policy. If they saw you carrying, I'm sure they would ask you to leave, but I'm not sure what the legal ramifications would be. The police officer that was there when I went was very knowledgable, but as I was leaving he was briefing another officer who didn't seem to be quite as knowledgable. I did carry a firearm up there to sell, and the police officer checked it and zip tied it. I don't like to walk through the parking lot unarmed, so I did carry my Bersa .380 CC in a Smartcarry holster.
I was pretty unimpressed at the show. Everything was overpriced, all I bought was some powder and primers. The guy who is usually there selling elk meat and jerky wasn't even there!

I have even seen some 51% signs posted at the CC, but not all doors. It's been several years ago and I saw them on two separate occasions. Kind of humorous to think the CC gains 51%+ income from sales
I didn't see any signs when I was there last year, as it should be.
I've given up going to the shows here. Just a waste of admission.
