This article has some strange allegations/facts in it.

State Rep. Miles under investigation for alleged threats at party

HOUSTON — State Rep. Borris Miles is under investigation in connection with a complaint that he threatened a business rival and brandished a gun at a holiday party last month, officials said.

The Harris County District Attorney's office confirmed Friday that investigators are looking into allegations that the Houston Democrat crashed the party uninvited, pulled out a pistol and forcibly kissed another man's wife. The DA's office said it received a written complaint about the incident, but would not comment further.

At the party last month, Miles referred to himself as a "gangster" and a "thug," said David Harris, who threw the party for his private management company. Harris said Miles then kissed him on both cheeks and the mouth before taking out a gun and placing it in Harris' hands.

Harris said he believes Miles, an insurance agent, was angry because Harris had invested in a rival business.

"He was saying things such as: 'I told you to get out of the insurance business. There ain't room in this town for the two of us. I'm going to come after you and take you down,'" Harris said.

Calls to Miles' insurance and government offices were not immediately returned on Saturday morning. Attempts to reach him at home were unsuccessful.

Nathaniel Rido said that his wife was kissed by Miles before the state representative left.

"A public official acting like that," Rido said. "I was disturbed."

In July, Miles made news when he shot a man in the leg who was apparently trying to steal copper wiring from a home Miles was building. He is licensed to carry a concealed weapon and was not charged in the shooting.
Basically, the guy kissed the host (another guy) and then took out a gun and placed it in the other guy's hands.

What the heck is that?

And he also is said to have kissed another guy's wife, which is not against the law but in the context of the report seems like it was not fully appreciated by the women's husband.

I wonder what he's gonna be charged with, if anything. "Failure to conceal" maybe? It doesn't say he specifically threatened anyone with the gun. But it sounds like he was acting pretty weird.

His alleged statement about "coming after" a business associate/rival and "taking him down" could easily have been intended in a context of business competition rather than a physical threat. Or not.

Does anyone know anything about this guy? Is he a 2A supporter? It seems he was involved in a justified shooting (of a burglar) a while ago.

Have any more facts come to light on this (party) incident as yet?

I believe he is one of those who believe they should be able to carry a firearm but everyone else should be restricted. Here is a thread from a while back that talked about his oposition to the Castle Doctrine bill.

The only thing I know about him is that he is one of very few Representatives that voted against the Castle Doctrine. Then, a few weeks later he shot an apparent thief that was coming out of his new house that was then under construction. I don't recall his TSRA or NRA rating. While I don't want to see any CHL having problems that mar our image, I won't miss this guy, if the allegations are true.

In 2006, Miles had an A-.

If these reports are accurate, I have two words: loose cannon.

Sure it is if she decides it was either offensive or provocative.

We have all heard the arguement that those folks who don't trust gun owners are those who don't trust themselves. This guy is a classic example of anti's being nuts.;-)

It still amuses me that some of the press will not tag a politician as a Democrat, when they are being heinous.
I suppose they think it's bad advertising for their party.

Interesting isn't it. Whenever Chuck Rosenthal's name is mentioned now, he's always identified as the Republican Harris County DA.
