Customized Kimber Pro Carry S/S (Kobra Carry Clone)

Post by AEA »

As most of you know, rm9792 bobbed his Pro CDP. Thread here:
http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_F ... 76#p144376

In that thread I asked him to do my Stainless Pro Carry II and he agreed.

I ordered some authentic Kobra Carry Grips from Ed Brown and sent the Frame and Grips to Ray. He got the bobbed MSH for me and he bought the Jig to do the cut. It took me awhile to get the Grips and while I was waiting I believe he actually did two other guns! So he was even more experienced by the time he got mine. He is not a Gunsmith (by his own admittance) but he sure is as far as I am concerned. He says he just enjoys working with guns. I would not have the patience, much less the skill to do anything like this.

Attached is a picture he sent me last night of my frame almost completed. Just a small bit of fine sanding left and then re-assemble.
I can hardly wait to get it back. When I do, I will post more pictures of the completed gun in this thread.

I gotta say this is amazing! I now have the Kobra Carry style in a Kimber platform and I have saved a whole bunch of money!
If anyone else is interested in getting their's done, I can vouch for Ray as a stand up guy and he does what he says.
He is in Texas, so shipping the frame to him is no big deal for most of us on this Forum.

Thanks Ray! :cheers2: :cheers2: :thewave :thewave

Thanks Alan, but it is more metal working than smithing. I wish I was a smith, I am paying mine $40+ an hour! I am trying to learn though. I fitted my first bushing and am messing with barrel lockup now.
