Hi Powers Everywhere

I went to the HGCA Gun Show in Reliant Center(formerly the Astrohall) in Houston TX today, and I think every other booth had a Hi-Power. I saw FN's, FEG's and Brownings, and they ranged from $550-$875 and even a really nice Inglis with most of the sticker still on the grip. that guy wanted $1150.00 but has room to "wiggle" on that price. There were two superbly engraved BHP's, one gold plated and the other blue, runing around the $2500 range. Man I am glad I bought mine when I did, especially for the prices they had on some of their guns. I have never seen so many Hi-Powers in one show either.

One guy was walking around holding a blue BHP, so I asked him what he had and what he wanted for it. It was a pretty rough looking Mark 2 and he wanted $600.00 for it, "No Less". Sheesh....used guns sales are like country property costs....wayyy inflated.

I was however able to pick up 4 new MecGar 15 round, flush fit mags at a reasonable price.

I've managed to buy two FN Hi Powers for less than $500 each, and an FEG for about 200...and of course I want another one. Found the prices to be about what you saw at the show, but I have not seen very many in one place at one time. I would have been in a tizzy at that show. Would've like to grab some magazines like you did, tho.

Heh. Hi Powers everywhere there, too, huh?

Picked up a Mk. III .40 at the local show on Saturday; I suspect it'll become a main carry, alternating out with my Springfield 1911.

I saw three other HPs there, too - a beater, a hard-nickeled Mk. II, and an elaborately engraved Hi Power, all in 9mm. But this one was what I wanted - Mk. III, ambidextrous safety, with the plain black finish, and .40-caliber. A workhorse that I won't care if it gets carry wear, in other words.

Tried it out this afternoon (Sunday), and the pistol shot superbly with the factory magazine. I wish I could say as much for the spare I grabbed yesterday... Oddly enough, while the spare .40 mag has major feeding problems, my 9mm's spare mag will feed .40 S&W just fine.

I didn't see a single HP at Texarkana (Arkansas) this weekend. Lots of overpriced 1911s and overpriced .30 Carbines, though.

Those Mec-Gar 15-rounders are some quality magazines. I bought one to try out about a week ago. Once I put a couple hundred rounds through it, it became my primary carry mag. I'll be replacing my two spare mags with new ones next week.

I called last week and they were all gone.
The one I bought a few months ago needs company.
But I know of a shop locally that still has a new one for $379. Maybe I ought to go buy it.
