I hope the two gentlemen mentioned in the original post as candidates for CHL are able to get a whole lot of (obviously) needed training and hands on experience with weapons before they actually start carrying.

I'm personally working on that. I will also suggest they take a real course.

Both have experiences with firearms and have fired pistols but when people start throwing around the terminology it does get confusing.
