Scenario question

Post by Broge5 »

Nevermind this post, I had forgotten that I had asked it here before. I thought it was somewhere else and I couldn't remember the replies. Was rethinking it mainly because my wife just got her CHL and will most likey carry OWB. Sorry I had a brain cramp.

My brother was once approached while in the restroom of a fast food restaraunt by a man who from behind claimed to be armed and demanded his leather jacket. My brother handed over the jacket and the guy left.

Aside from the ideas of only using a stall with a door, not using public restrooms, etc, I have wondered about what I would do if this happened to me. In this situation, for me there would be one major difference. My brother did not carry; I do. Usually IWB, but in the event that I was carrying OWB, or as I used to carry a Kel Tec P3AT in jacket pocket, what would I do?

Again, I am among the group that feels stuff is stuff, and not worth a life. OK, yes, there are some exceptions, but the jacket is not one for me.

Giving up the jacket, which under most circumstances would be my decision assuming the BG would not want to fire and attract attention in the restaraunt, in this case could be giving the BG my weapon or exposing my weapon. My first thought is that this would totally be unacceptable, but then again.....

Because he will find out anyway, calmly tell him I'm armed before he is surprised? Claim to be a LEO?

Thoughts?

I gotta think that exposing a pistol in that situation would certainly escalate it. And if it is going to escalate, I would want to be the one with the advantage of already having gun in hand.

You could always try something unexpected. Instead of finishing your business and then turning around to hand him the jacket, you could change the order. Turn around and THEN finish your business all over his pants and shoes. It might throw him enough of a curve ball that you then have a chance to depart. I would suggest not sticking around to wash your hands though.

Why does this post give me an overwhelming sense of deja vu?
