A CHL instructor told me some time ago that you had to spend at least half of the 365 day year at the address that is listed on your CHL and DL in order for it to be legal.....well, with that in mind I was thinking of establishing a duel residence when I move to Louisiana keeping my TX residence for everything....but I will almost never be there.....
In fact, right now, for past number of years my residence has been officially what is on my DL and CHL....but I am only there on weekends or, as it is now, every other weekend as I spend most of my time on the road out of hotels for work...where does that leave me? Is 1/2 of 365 days still the law or what?

Re: Address on CHL
I do not no the legal answers to what you are doing.
I do know someone who does what you are talking about now. He maintains his homestead in Texas. Texas Drivers license, voters regristration, etc. Get's his official mail in Texas. Maintains a condo in another state that they spend more nights a year in than in their home in Texas.
It works well for them, since his brother lives across the road and checks the mail everyday and forwards what they might need.
Most states give you 30 to 60 days to get a drivers license there when you move. Guess you would have to find a dinifination of means you have moved there.

Re: Address on CHL
Texas can still be your primary residence.

Re: Address on CHL
I had a address issue as well since I'm a student, and I don't consider myself to have a permanent residence here where I go to school (even though I do live in an apartment). My Texas DL still has my home address on it, so that's what I put for my CHL address as well. Luckily, both my home and school addresses are in TX anyway.
