CHL at protests?

Post by XD45 »

Hello everyone, first let me say this is my first time posting here. I've been lurking for a while ever since getting my CHL back in September. I'm a 22 year old male with no children, currently no significant other, and enjoying it. :cheers2:

Anyway, my question is, can I CHL carry at protests in Texas? A buddy of mine (also a CHL) and I were thinking of attending a few protests around the DFW area. They would be perfectly legal and peaceful, but could attract upwards of 50 people or possibly more. They would be curb side protests in a public setting, so I don't foresee any problems with this. From what I understand, many states do have laws against it though, so I thought I should bring this issue up here. Is there any law against it here in Texas?

Also, does anyone have the 07-08 CHL handbook in PDF format that you can use the search function with? The version I have seems to have just been scanned and you can't search for any text in it.

Thank you very much, that's what I wanted to hear. :thumbs2:

I will also avoid the businesses listed on your site, though I do not see any that I visit currently.

And provided that the 'protest' is not a meeting of a governing entity.

Yes, but I've always had an issue with this exception for the governmental entities. A meeting that takes place on government property technically cannot fall under the provisions of 30.06.

I love the "you can't do this" statute with a "just kidding" addendum.
