You can still buy new series I Kimbers

Post by Mike1951 »

I posted in the 'Series 80' thread that Kimber's Warrior (MSRP $1353.00) and Desert Warrior (MSRP $1369.00), both 5" pistols, come with the Series 1 system.

It didn't so much as draw a comment, so I thought I'd post it again as a new thread.

Street price should be in the $950-$1000 range, not too unreasonable for folks that don't like the Series II and want a full size model.

is that what is listed as their Covert model on the website. I combed the Kimber Website without so much as a whisper of the "Warrior" model.

now, I ain't saying it ain't there, just I ain't found it. You're right, it doesn't say II after it.
FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.

Its in the custom 2 family on their website, its modeled after the 1911 the Marine recon units use (or something like that). Its got nightsights, a rail, the kimpro finish and ugly nutter butter gunner grips. You can get it in desert tan or black for a little over a grand. Oh, and it does NOT have the schwartz safety.

What is a schwartz safety?

thanks. saw it, and eh. I really want a Pro size. I'm leaning towards a Springfield Champion.

The schwartz safety is a firing pin block safety, a lot of shooters dont like buying a gun with one. Personally Im not an experienced enough shooter to even tell the difference, but I have heard that it can effect the trigger pull and may cause reliability issues

Like the Warrior and Desert Warrior, the SIS-series pistols also delete the firing-pin block. Street price is a little higher than the Warrior pistols. SIS pistols have 30lpi checkering on the front strap, spray-n-bake finish, and unique, tritium-illuminated sights. The sights are ugly to some but actually not a bad idea for anyone who carries a 1911 for serious purposes. The Warrior is a functional pistol and recommended for duty use by some instructors. The problem is, not everyone wants or needs a light rail and Kimber apparently thought about that with the SIS.
When you take the time out of your day to beat someone, it has a much longer lasting effect on their demeanor than simply shooting or tazing them.

I just flashed on "Spaceballs", and Mel Brooks yelling, "Use the schwartz, Luke! Use the schwartz!"
