They messed up my order!

Post by AFJailor »

I ordered a Dillon 550b and the accessory package for it that comes with a balance beam scale, the package was $179.99, but when I got it today it came with an electronic scale, which would of made the kit cost $249.99. Now the reason I ordered the balance beam scale kit was in part because it was cheaper, but also because I hear they are easier to maintain/keep accurate.

I am not upset in the least, but now I'm wondering what other people would do in this situation.

Oh and I checked and I was definately charged for the cheaper kit.

Do the right thing! Send the electronic scale to me and I'll send you my beam scale. :biggrinjester:

While I like your spirit, I think you missed his point. AFJailor wants to do right by Dillon.

So here's the deal. Send the electronic scale to me and I'll send my beam scale to Dillon.

I think that will make everyone very happy. :thumbs2:

Contact Dillon and inform them of the error. You may be pleasantly surprised with their answer. At worst, they'll ask for the scale back and ship you the one you ordered or ask you to pay the difference.

I would call Dillon. I would be very surprised if they did other then tell you keep it at no extra charge. We (SRVA and I) have found Dillon to be an incredibly honorable company. :patriot:

+1 on calling them. But as CompVest said, they probably won't want it back. It will cost them the return shipping, plus the shipping for another one to you, so it would be worth their while to just let you keep it.

My older brother and his wife recently bought some patio furniture at lowe's. The checker screwed up and undercharged them a couple of hundred dollars. Once they got home they felt bad and sent the difference to St. Jude's children hospital. I thought that was really cool!

AFJailer - Do you really want the digital scale? If you do, why didn't you order it in the first place? If money was the deciding factor, then it seems you would still want to send it back [unless Dillon makes you an offer you can't refuse]. Digital scales are probably easier to use and they are faster, but they are not necessarily more accurate. If properly cared for, a beam scale will last for decades without having to be recalibrated or serviced. I think that it all boils down to whether or not you want a digital scale. Either way you still need to call Dillon and decide what action to take.

The right thing to do is contact the company and let them know about the mistake. That is what I would do. If you were the one with the lose in a deal how would you feel. Wouldn't you want the person to do right by you?
