The brothers ran to their car and followed the burglar as he ran away on foot into nearby woods.

A little sensasionalism there maybe? ;-)

Watching the video that was a side bar to the story, there was a little more "drama" added. The news reporter chunked 3 watermelons out of the window - but used considerable effort to get them well beyond the hedges and mulch adjacent to the house. Unlike "concrete" as stated, such likely cushioned the burglar's fall - from closer to 10' before first impact ...
