I'm getting tired of the high ammo prices !!!!! (it's now like pitching quarters at range targets for each 9mm and fifty cent pieces for each .40 S&W practice shots!...Damn it!) Different than even a year ago. I will reload too...but...
BUT...are there ANY shooting clubs in the Austin area that get members together and buy wholesale or in mass quantities for members to save money? I'll join!
Can I join?
I live in Leander, but like a panhandler along the road....I might soon need start walking along the road with a sign saying... "Will Drive For Reasonably Priced Ammo" (I use both 9mm and quite a number of.40s)

Some websites offer quantity discounts on ammo, such as, http://www.natchezss.com and http://www.buyammo.com as well as http://www.sportsmansguide.com
Also, if you google "sportsmans guide coupon" you can save $10 off a $99+ order.

Yes, High Velocity
I know about many internet sites that sell ammo at "discounted bulk" prices.
And have looked at those and all that I can find on Googling the subject.
But I was/am looking for a club whose members get together and make a club MASS purchase of cases and cases....and the members chip-in for the various amounts each wants. Maybe to "stock up" and truly lessen the constantly rising prices.
Any out there that in central Texas that would consider another member?

I would be interested in this also if there is something in the Fort Worth area. I for one need to stock up on 9mm, 12 ga and .22

Generally speaking, I have found that any club with enough members shooting enough ammo to make a bulk buy, are reloading. I do know that shooters get together to bulk buy reloading components.

Well, that's cool too. I'll be reloading when I get a couple more pieces of equipment.....and a bench to do it on.
BUT, I still would like to know if ANY central Texas gun clubs do it....to join and learn(while I SAVE!!!)
Anyone?

daddySEAL: I think you have your answer. It's unlikely a local club would have the buying power necessary--or the wholesale connections--to command deep discounts on direct-from-manufacturer commercial ammo purchases. Unless you're buying quantities like Walmart--and even they have been hit with steeply rising wholesale prices--you aren't likely to get much of a deal on commercial ammo...in fact, you probably won't even be able to deal directly with the manufacturers.
Buying reloading components, as CompVest says, is different. Collaborative bulk buys there make sense. That isn't a "finished product" market, so you're closer to the wholesaler costs.
