Looks like Utah has it right!

Post by M9FAN »

My apologies if this is a re-post.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/02/20/cnnu.g ... topstories

Given all of the recent shootings in "Gun Free" zones, it just blows my mind that so many folks, like the woman quoted in this article, are still opposed to law-abiding citizens carrying concealed weapons. What is it with these people (sheeple)?!

It is - but I believe you can't spread this kind of news around enough...

If you want to toss your lunch just read the majority of the CNN page comments....

I gave them my opinion. Once the CNN moder-nazis review it, I'm sure it won't get posted.

Yeah, the comments are pretty ridiculous. "What? There've been students right next to me who have been able to carry concealed guns on them in class for how many years now, and I'm just now becoming aware of it? Well, now I'm scared to go to class! God knows what that gun-owner is going to do now, regardless of what he's been doing for the last few years!??! This is just going to make more shootings happen!" (nevermind the fact that it hasn't happened on Utah campuses or that all of the Wild West/shootout hoopla has been completely and utterly destroyed by over a decade of concealed carry nationwide with no running gun battles to be found anywhere)

I also like the "What kind of society have we become when we feel we need guns to protect ourselves at institutions of higher learning?" :rolll

Just watched a few of the YouTube videos posted by Students For Concealed Carry on Campus (interviews and the like), and one quote from their media guy Scott Lewis really stood out as a great answer to the standard gun-grabber line, "throwing more guns into the mix isn't going to solve anything".
More guns isn't a problem if they're in the hands of responsible, law-abiding citizens.
[Fewer]* guns isn't a solution if they're coming out of the hands of responsible, law-abiding citizens.
I imagine it'd be hard for an intellectually honest gun-control advocate (if they exist) to take those two statements and refute them honestly.

I was going to post, but then I keep having to count to 10 to calm down. A hotheaded response would do more harm.

I tried to make a post and got this
CNN wrote:Thank you for contributing. Comments are moderated by CNN and will not appear on this story until after they have been reviewed and deemed appropriate for posting. Unfortunately, due to the volume of comments we receive, not all comments can be posted.
Ill be interesting to see if the following gets posted
Wildscar comment CNN wrote:I bet you have a first aid kit incase you scrape your knee or cut your finger.

I bet you have smoke detectors and fire extingishers incase of fire.

I bet you have air bags in your cars incase of accident.

I bet you have a spare tire in case you have a flat.

Well I carry a firearm in case of maniac wants to try and take my life or the lives of the people around me. I also carry a firearm becasue a police officer is too heavy.

And to all of you who say something about telling the diffrence between a good guy and a bad guy its simiple. The good guys knows when to place the firearm on the ground when the police finally show up.

I received the same response Wild. I think the most profane I got was just making a general comment about "sheep". Meh....

I'm pretty sure that response is what CNN.com gives every poster, regardless of content. It's just letting you know that a human will be reviewing it and deciding whether or not it's deemed "fit" for print. So though I wouldn't hold my breath, your comments could very well see the light of day again.

They seem more interested in cameras and text messaging.
I don't see how that's going to help the people who are in the room when the shooting starts.

Don't feel bad. Mine didn't get in there either.

I was all ready with a comment.. then realized they've stopped accepting them for that article! :grumble
Reading through all the comments, I noticed that there seemed to be a groundswell of CHL support as the comments drew to a close. There sure were a lot of buggar-brains posting there tho, "Burt" and a few others that really didn''t have a dog in the fight.
Glad to see the positive side of things outweighed the mis-informed. :patriot:
