Stabbing at AMC Theater

Two men were stabbed Sunday while watching a horror movie at a California movie theater.

The men were injured around 7:30 p.m. at the AMC Fullerton Town 20 theater in Fullerton, Calif., while watching the thriller "The Signal," MyFOXLA.com reports.

Police said the individuals were sitting in different parts of the theater when they were attacked by an unknown assailant, the station reports.

"He started stabbing at the theater seat and then he stabbed the victim," Fullerton Police Lt. Tom Basham said. "As he fled, he stabbed another victim sitting near the exit."

Police were called to the theater after someone found a bag of what appeared to be illegal substances, MyFOXLA.com reports. When officers arrived, moviegoers — including the bloody stabbing victims — were running out of the theater.

Authorities believe the assailant was a white male, who bought a ticket to the theater but was later asked to leave.

"He somehow made his way back into the theater," Basham told MyFOXLA.com.

Looks like AMC is going to have to post "Knife Buster" signs in addition to their various "No Guns" signage. :smilelol5:

I wonder what the corporate office is saying about that incident. Isn't it ironic.....
Good Job m9 for finding and posting that story.

These folks had two strikes against them already, even if they wanted to be armed; California's 'may issue' status, and AMC's 'no carry' policy.

Actually - CA doesn't have anything like 30.06, so unless the AMC's had metal detectors, they wouldn't be able to stop you. Now - getting a CCW permit in Cali is another story, so the argument is basically moot.

Not even gun buster signs? :headscratch Seems to me that a company bent on keeping weapons off of their premises, (at least here in TX), would post similar signs in all states, not just in a select few...

If they do have gunbuster signs the CCW is not obliged to follow them (unlike some other states). So few people have a CCW in CA that it is a non-issue.

Learn something new every day. Just another reason for me to stay away from that state... :grumble

This still show how "Gun Free Kill Zones" work, just that the entire state of California is basically a "Gun Free Kill Zone".

And I'm sure AMC still doesn't get it.

Actually not true.

CCW's are a per-county thing in CA, basically, policy is set by the county sheriff. While most counties are as you'd expect, impossible, more than a few are shall-issue, like Kern and Orange counties.

Well - they're not technically shall-issue. Just easier. You still need to show cause. The policy is actually set by the Sheriff or the P.D if you live in an incorporated town. It's all pretty complicated. They can also require that you get a psych exam. The fee can be up to $500 for a 2-3 year license. I forget which. The renewal can be up to $250. And as everyone knows - No out-of-state licenses honored.

This is a perfect example of why AMC Corporation is dead wrong (see how I did that?) on the 30.06 postings. It is proof that they cannot protect their patrons, yet they wish to deprive us of the right to protect ourselves.
