30.05 vs. 30.06

I noticed today that the Henry B. Gonzales Conference Center in San Antonio has signs posted saying, in essence, no weapons ("weapon" is used, not firearm), and citing 30.05 (which is titled "Criminal Trespass").

So help a newbie out (I could just ask this at CHL class on Saturday, but if you folks tell me then I can look like a genius when the instructor asks!) and tell me if a CHL holder can legally pass a sign citing 30.05 but NOT 30.06.

Section 30.05 is about Criminal Trespass, and probably will NOT be covered in your CHL class, as it does not apply to a CHL holder. It is a long section, but here are the important parts for you to know:

PC §30.05. CRIMINAL TRESPASS.
(a) A person commits an offense
if he enters or remains on or in property, including an aircraft or other
vehicle, of another without effective consent or he enters or remains in
a building of another without effective consent and he:
(1) had notice that the entry was forbidden; or
(2) received notice to depart but failed to do so….

(f) It is a defense to prosecution under this section that:
(1) the basis on which entry on the property or land or in the
building was forbidden is that entry with a handgun was forbidden; and
(2) the person was carrying a concealed handgun and a license
issued under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, to carry
a concealed handgun of the same category the person was carrying

Most gun people I know carry at least one pocket knife. If it says no weapons, they could probably prosecute someone for carrying a knife, CHL or not. I think San Antonio also has a law against locking pocket knives.

It's in SanAntonio, so yer knife is illegal, anyway. SanAnt don't like the knives.
