Dangit, yeah. There is. I stopped by a gun shop on the way home today and felt up a CZ P01. Oh.... that was sweet. My only concern would be the holster availability - one of my big problems with the CZ97.

Is it written somewhere that gun owners must go through this agonizing ritual of choosing the "right" gun every couple of years? Some even have the pleasure of experiencing it several times a year.

FWIW, as you know CZs are great guns. Several holster makders make guns for most CZ models. Have you tried browsing the CZ forums?

It is great having so many choices, and it has been a couple of years so I guess it it just time to pay the piper. Frustrating? You betcha. But a fair sight better than the alternative!

I haven't been to the p01 section of the CZ forums... mainly been to the -97 and DanWesson sections, but I guess I have a new areay to check out. That and all of the holster makers websites that I know.

Don't forget, CZ is also making the Dan Wesson 1911s, which seem to get high marks.

Yeah, CZ bought out the DW company... and then doubled the price on their 1911s. I shouldn't complain all that much as it really just brought DW into line with comparable products, but they just aren't the amazing value that they used to be. Still good though.

I wasn't aware of pricing changes. Haven't priced them in a while. It's ashame about the pricing increase because they were one of the best values on the market. A quality 1911 with bells and whistles that could most could afford. Even CZ's own line of guns used to be one of the best values, but sadly even they have come up in price comparable with other guns. I did know about them being owned by CZ now.

The same thing happened when Springfield Armory decided to start stamping their name on the HS2000.

I have carried a 5" 1911 for years, and it is very comfortable. It disappears and the weight isnt anything to complain about. If anything, it feels lighter than several other guns i have carried of the same basic size. Nowadays i carry a wheelgun more and more due to the GF, but that 1911 is my favorite auto. Usual load with that thing is the 1911 OWB, with either 3 or 6 extra mags in the offside back pocket, depending on location/circumstances. Add a BUG, and life is good and the load carries very well with no sagging. Have nt carried a shorty 1911, but shot a friends kimber 3.5" and it was very nice. Not quite as controllable as my 5" Springfield, but very comfortable and accurate. I'll be picking up a compact springfield 1911 when finances allow after shooting his Kimber. Sorry, just like Springfields.

I've started carrying full size 1911 since I was first allowed to carry. Only reason I've been carrying my G19 lately is because I didn't feel like taking the CTAC out. Yeah, I'm lazy. I shouldn't make that a habit either. I'll change it out tonight. <<Looks down in shame>>

If you're looking for a XD45 ACP, AJC Sports Shop in Clute had one at the gunshow for $479. It feels nice in hand it points somewhat like a 1911. Best of luck with ya whatever you end up carrying.

Love my Springfield XD 9MM Service. Shot 450 rounds through it so far and no jams or anything.

Go for the XD9 or XD45ACP. You won't be sorry.
