Smith and Wesson Military and Police

I have recently shot the new M&P and it looks like Smith and Wesson has finally gotten the autopistol right. I am very impressed with the quality of the gun, the ergonomics, accuracy and just how well thought out it is. I was so impressed, I bought one in .40. My wife is so impressed, she took it away from me so she could shoot it in competition. So far, over 400 rounds without even the smallest problem. Check this pistol out. If no major problems show up in this pistol it is time to buy Smith and Wesson stock.

Just yesterday (3/3/6) I bought a Sigma SW9VE. Will be taking it to the range tomorrow to test fire. It is a less fancy & less pricey ($318.00 at Academy Sports) version of the M & P, I think. It feels good to grip. Had some problems breaking it down & putting it back together for initial cleaning. Thats my fault for being so unmechanical. I know you expert gun people are laughing at me. Think I figured it out though and should not have future problems. It should make a good car gun or carry gun with the right wardrobe. Can't wait to fire it!!!
I was going to buy a S & W 642 38cal. Changed my mind for now but I guess that will be my next purchase. I'm beginning to be gun poor.

jbenat, have an older friend 70 + who has a SW40VE. He likes his. Also had problems w/ breakdown. No one is laughing I assure you. We all started somewhere in the past. The new stuff is kinda tuff on us old fellers too. So the young ones have taught me more about the Glock Blocks than I can remember. You should like it. verify reliability, keep it clean & it should serve you well.

Thanks for the understanding. I really felt silly when I had to call a S & W techie and confess I was having problems. He was very nice & suggested I go get a cold one & relax. Which I did later. Think I can actually do it now though.
We are heading over to Academy in a few minutes to purchase a S & W 642 38 for my better half ("txbell1" in this forum) while they still have it. What fun tomorrow at Collin County Range with two new guns. I'm like a 67 year old kid when it comes to new guns!!!

Aren't we all? The only reason I didn't have a problem with mine is I also have a Glock and they work the same way.

Funny you should mention that the the Sigma is similar to the Glock. Yesterday I was at the Buttet Trap gun store in Plano & they were showing me how the Glock breaks down. I couldn't believe it when I took a closer look. The Sigma looks pretty much like the Glock inside & out. I didn't realize that when I bought it. In fact, they said something about Glock suing S & W over it. Has anyone heard anything about that?
My wife ( txbell1 in this forum ) did buy the S & W 642. We will be at the Collin County Range later. Can't wait!!!!
