Is This "NO GUNS" Sign Legal?

Post by Abraham »

At the entrance to an office building I had to go into yesterday, located at 1560 W. Bay Area Blvd, I happened upon a new (to me anyway) NO GUNS sign.

It read: AW V.C.S. Art 4413 (29ee) and the beloved pistol with a slash through it and a circle around it.

Anyone have a clue what the status of this one is?

Enforceable or ...?

Thanks!!

Legal? Yeah - nothing illegal about it being there.

Enforceable? It holds no meaning for CHL holders. It isn't the exact 30.06 sign so it doesn't mean anything.

That was the sign commonly posted in pre-30.06 days.

It remains in the Harris County Appraisal District building.

Mike 1951,

Thanks all and you Mike for the specific information regarding the history of this sign.

What with the alpha numerics and numbers, the sign looked like it may have been an enforcible exception.

Mighty official looking it is.

V.C.S is a reference to Vernon's Civil Statutes: http://tlo2.tlc.state.tx.us/statutes/cv.toc.htm. I confess to ignorance of how that is related to the current Penal Code.

It's the old civil code that was replaced with §§411.171 to 411.208. Check out this link for full details:
