Dutch madman stabs ex-wife video

Post by JasonH »

If this has been posted before or is inappropriate, I apologize. I did a few searches and couldn't find anything.

This video is very graphic. I'd say it's not safe for work and make sure the kiddos aren't around, either.

From the description:

A crazy Dutch man stabs his ex-wife in the nexk on the street while bystanders watch and try to help. This happened in 2006.
The 22 year old woman still suffers from permanent injuries and this video was used in the court against the attacker who got 4 years of imprisonment.

I think it's relevant to post because it displays, greusomely so, how horrific and helpless a completely disarmed populace is against a madman with just a knife. I felt incredibly frustrated watching the video and the weak, ineffective attempts at stopping him. Granted, the same thing could happen here in Texas and the odds would be against an immediate bystander carrying, but at least there's a chance.

Without seeing the video (slow isp connection), the obvious implication here is intervention by a third party. It's a domestic situation, a destination even cops fear to tread. If it were in Texas, the right thing to do is save the victim. But there are all kinds on notions in Texas law and politics that emasculate the average citizen. So, how do you stand and deliver when every tea-sipping prosecutor around wants to put you on a rack if you choose to do the logical thing, mainly, defend your fellow man when the occassion arises from psychopaths? Or do you just walk away...:banghead:

I did not watch the video, but if it is that graphic I do not think that it should be posted here regardless if you give a warning. I believe that most people who visit this site understand that there are crazy people out there who wish to inflict bodily harm against the innocent. This is why we have CHL's.

I really don't see how this is any different than listening to an audio clip of a woman defending herself against a home intruder with a gun.

It's not meant to be shocking for the sake of being shocking. I think it's an important lesson on several levels and a good reminder.

For what it's worth, I probably overstated the severity of how graphic it is. You see an attack and some blood, that's about it. I've seen worse posted here and much, much worse online. It's not for the squeamish but I don't feel awkward sharing it with adults.

Seen that before. What shocks me is the lack of action from the bystanders.

+1 I don't need to see it to know about it.

JasonH, thank you for posting a warning. I wonder what the woman thinks about having this video out on the net?

From the video the guy was stabbing her in the neck trying to MURDER her...he could have easily cut her jugular and she would have died rather fast

He stabbed her 10's of time..just kept jabbing and jabbing and jabbing!

In that situation I would have drawn, issued a warning 1 time, then center of mass until the threat was stopped

From the description (don't think I dare view the video at work, and I keep forgetting at home), it sounds like the woman was fortunate her ex- was so incompetent with a knife.

I can't view video from work, but if it's the one I'm thinking of, a couple of guys run up and "kick" the attacker. I say "kick", because neither one of them could kick a cat off the couch. I thought those people played soccer!

I don't need to see video to guess how graphic it is,If i was unarmed and some crazy guy with a knife was stabbing someone,I couldn't help,i'm disabled but few people would at the risk of being injured or killed themselves. But give them the ability to intervne in a way that would not only be able to stop the bad guy but do it in a way that would prevent them from being put in harms way and it gets different.
It is said that if you line up all the cars in the world end-to-end, someone would be stupid enough to try to pass them
