Beretta Sights Recommendations

Post by JLaw »

I'm looking for recommendations for new sights for my Beretta 92FS. Right now it's wearing Trijicon night sights. The main use for the Beretta at this time is IDPA. Believe it or not, I find that the rear Trijocon sights are somewhat of a distraction for me. I tend to pick up on the rear sight before front sight, which is baaad. Keep this in mind, I come from fixed sight revolvers with front post sights brightly painted, I think that's why I'm being distracted be having something on the rear sight.

What I'm wanting to do at the least is go with a flat black rear blade that will match up with the front Trijocon sight. I'd really like to use a flat black rear blade with a bright green fiber optic front, but would removing the front Trijicon sight ruin it?

Any thoughts or input? Internet sources for sights would also be appreciated.

Just a thought, but maybe some redneck engineering would do it for you. Try putting some of that painters tape over the dots on the rear sights and blacken them with a sharpie. Then you can just take the tape off after the match, and still have your Trijicons. Unless of course you arent happy with them at all and want to replace them with something else. I wish my new Kimber came with the Trijicons. Its the only thing I dont like about the gun, and that will fixed soon. I cant believe a $900 gun that is supposed to be designed to carry only has black sights. Not even white dots. I think that their reasoning for it is that it will let people decide what kind of sights they want to put on it. It did come with a catalog from Metropol advertising their Trijicons and fiber sights. They were even thoughtful enough to throw in an ad for Crimson Trace gripsights.

Speaking of grips, Why would the salesman behind the counter of one of Houstons largest gun stores sell me a set of Pachmayr grips for a full size 1911 when I am buying a compact Ultra Carry II? Ill give him the benefit of the doubt and say it was an oversight on his part. no harm done, but now I have to go back to a gun store. :anamatedbanana

I cant wait to get a day off so I can break this thing in.

+1 on the sharpie!

I can't stand anything but black on my rear sight.......I have a very difficult time with anything glowing other than the front sight.
