This is a similar gunsafe to one I use, and came across the link and website today...

For all the issues we deal with today when we fly, drive and stay around our state and country...This little safe seems to be the best solution to a lot of the storage and securing quesiotns and concerns we see all the time in the forums we visit...

Just thought it would be good to keep an idea like this handy for everyone to consider if you are presented with a need for something like this...

I've seen the one Stevie has. It is really nice. It appears to be very durable. IMO it doesn't scream gun. The securing cable looks strong, like it would be easier to remove the car seat than cut the cable.

I have one in my console and it works pretty well. Not theft proof, but I figure if my gun is stolen, it is better to appear to have made an effort than none at all. Also, it would definitely keep young kids out should they get in your car for some reason. Now if ford would just go back to putting locked consoles in, the issue would be moot.

I've been using one in my truck since last year. Our son has one also that he received from my dad for his 21st birthday. My dad mailed the payment in and then worried that he'd ordered it too late for it to arrive in time. So, he called their number to find out how long it would take to ship once payment was received. The gentleman took my dad's say-so and put the safe in the mail that same day, before he received the check!

Good product, good customer service, at least as far as our experience has been.

Those guys that run that show up there are top notch in my book...Very customer friendly, and good businessmen...

If I ever need another one or two or three...You bet I'd almost drive up there to pick it up, they are worth it...

(Yeah, silly Steve, spend $200 in gas to go get a $45 product...

)

Good deal...

One thing I have done to make mine a little more flexible in its mounting to a vehicle...

Is run to your local hardware store, and pick up a small caribiner ("screw type") that you can loop through the latch bar, or keep, inside the safe to allow you to thread one of the pre-fabricated looped ends through it and then run the cable through the notch they provide and then around some hard point in the vehicle...

That way the theft load is not totally on the metal cable "crimp" that rests against that notch...Just one more thing I thought of when I got my first safe...

I'm going to try to get some pics of the caribiner and the way I have it secured in my truck in the morning...

If someone can host the images, I'll email them to you so they can be posted here...That way there's a visual cue to my madness...

Thanks "quidni"...

First, I want to apologize for the crumbs on the passenger seat...Wife Unit spilled a bunch of Vanilla Wafer crumbs on our road trip this last weekend...My truck is usually fairly clean and clutter free...Just call me a neat-nick...Or a freak...

When I did this, I thought maybe the arrangement might interfere with the swivle of the latch that the key operates...It did at first, but if you figure out whats causing that, which is simply the cable loop to the caribiner laying inside the safe...You can play with it a little bit and it will fall out of the way and still the cable will fall into the little notch to allow you to fully close the safe and lock it...

It'll take some to get used to, but I think it improves the overall security of the safe...

BTW, "quidni" noted that the safe she received only had one small crimped loop on her cable...The other end was some sort of crimped bolt??? Mine came with both ends of the cable with a small loop, crimped...

Thats a new one on me, but I told her that I still think the safe will work real well in any installed arrangement...

Just bought one.

I have a nice lockable console built into the back of my car that I plan to use for just this purpose.
The one I just bought will be for my office, and for plane trips. I have an internal rail in my luggage that I can lock the box around in case someone decides to go diving into my luggage. I'd like to make it as non-trivial as possible for someone to steal my stuff.

Someone else had the same idea...I think it was even discussed here or on another forum...I forget...Theres just so many...

I'm going to try and figure out a way to do that in my check in luggage as well...

Sure would put a crimp in the luggage gorilla's plans doesn't it!
