A man was fatally shot by a convenience store clerk during a robbery Thursday night in southeast Houston.
The man and another man entered the Colony Express Market about 11 p.m. and robbed the clerk, who fired shots at the robbers, police said.
One of the men died in front of the store at 2525 Broadway near the South Loop and the other fled.
It is unknown if he left the scene on foot or in a vehicle, said Sgt. J. Rubio, HPD Homicide.
The clerk, who was closing the store at the time of the incident, was unharmed, Rubio said.
He declined to state whether there are surveillance cameras in or around the store.
"We are still investigating," Rubio said.
