Dallas Market Hall Show

Post by davefrmmrfy »

I plan on attending the April show this weekend. This will be only the second show I hve been to, the first being the one and only Frisco show. I'm looking to add to my collection a Springfield Loaded 1911 and wonder if it is worth the trip. Can you really get deals or is it just a mass retail event?

Any tips and suggestions?

Kinnda depends on where you have shopped before. I have usually found better deals at the shows, but not always. 1911's were very high at the TSRA show, but there were only about 3 larger dealers.

Best bet is to know what they are going for on GunBroker or Guns America, and what you can pay a FFL dealer to get one via transfer. Also, don't count out the local shops. They sometimes will have pretty good pricing on guns and you can get one right away for a few dollars more without having to wait.

Bottom line, know what they sell everywhere else so you know if the pricing is good at the show.

Good luck!

Of all the shows in the DFW area, I've found the ones at Market Hall to be the "best of the breed". Several of the major gun dealers are usually there with quite a bit of inventory. Good luck on finding the Springer.

Thanks. I've been working this project for a couple of months. I have an 80 row spreadsheet that has driven me crazy. i've hit all the local Plano shops and wore my keyboard out looking at websites. I finally settled on what I think I want, but, you never know, I may walk out of there with a Wilson Combat (Yeah, right... I DO want to stay married!!)

If you're looking for the Springfield Loaded Lightweight Two-Tone with NightSights, I wish you luck.
if you find one, well, I'm honestly going to be miffed. (yes, I said miffed.)
I looked all over Creation tryin' to find that thing.

had to "settle" for a Kimber CDP (same thing, different manufacturer)

don't buy any ammo, cause you're gonna see some that "seems" like a good deal, right up to the moment you buy it, then you'll remember that Academy sells it for the same price, but twice the quantity.
unless you like reloads, you *may* get a deal on buying someone elses reloads. some people aren't down with other's reloads, so YMMV.
FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.

Hi Dave, this is Greg from our class w/ Paul. Great to "virtually" hear from you again. Good luck at the show. Be sure to know the going rate or you could get skinned. I've found some good deals and around the corner at the next table some not so hot deals at the shows.

Ruthann bought me a Wilson CQB for our 25th anniversary last fall. Wilsons cost a boatload but they do shoot sooo sweet. That is truly the nicest firearm I've EVER shot. If you go this route, you'll cry at first and then smile every range trip thereafter.

I know this is too late for this show, but maybe it would help for the future. Did you find your Loaded?

Hey, Greg! Nope, not found it yet, but, this next weekend is the show. What I have found so far, and am going to try to beat, are prices ranging from 869 @ BulletTrap down to 775 @ Buds. The one at Buds was a previous sale, but, still, It is an indicator... I know, there is shipping and FFL involved.

I'm going to look for some leather to go with it also.

Anyone see a graying, balding 58 year old walking around with a glazed look in his eyes... It's me! :tiphat:

Ammowise at Market Hall, often the closer to the front, the more expensive (and may have + percentage for credit cards). Last couple of show, the best pricing was from a guy in far rear right corner. I saw him with one customer who he accompanied to the door with cases on a luggage buggy ...
