Correct use of security cable

Post by Center Of Mass »

All, thanks for the kind words about the safes.

I would like to let everyone know that you should not need the caribiner at all. The security cable comes with 2 different size loops on them.
Here is how to use the cable:
•Run small cable loop around fixed object.
E.g. seat track of car, plumbing pipe in hotel room or bed frame.
•Run large cable loop thru small cable loop.
•Remove foam (optional);
•Push large loop over the latching bracket on the bottom half of the safe;
•Take the “tail of the cable and place it in the notch in the side of the bottom half.
•Reinstall foam (if required)
•The safe is now ready to secure your property or remain in place until you are ready to use it.

If you check our website (http://www.center-of-mass.com), you will be able to find some pictures at the bottom of the main page.

Got questions? Email me at info@center-of-mass.com.

Again, thanks for all your kinds words.

I have a nice lockable console built into the back of my car that I plan to use for just this purpose.
The one I just bought will be for my office, and for plane trips. I have an internal rail in my luggage that I can lock the box around in case someone decides to go diving into my luggage. I'd like to make it as non-trivial as possible for someone to steal my stuff.
Someone else had the same idea...I think it was even discussed here or on another forum...I forget...Theres just so many...

I'm going to try and figure out a way to do that in my check in luggage as well...

Sure would put a crimp in the luggage gorilla's plans doesn't it!
If you've got luggage with a retractable handle, you can loop the cable around the inner guide of the rail. If not, if you remove the inner lining, you might find another place to lock it down to.

BTW, if you're looking for good luggage, I highly recommend TravelPro. I traveled extensively in my last job, and this luggage took a horiffic beating, and still survived.

Oh, and it's got a nice area to lock the cable around inside, too. :grin:
