Life's good!

Post by smyrna »

We decided to have a little "family time" today after church, so we loaded up the truck with fishing gear and headed to my friend's farm where I usually hunt and fish. On a whim, I had taken one of my .22 rifles at the last minute. After fishing for about an hour or so and only catching a few, my kids and wife were growing tired so we drove over the farm land sight seeing. I drove them down to a creek bottom and said, "Who wants to shoot the .22?" Of course both my son and daughter did (we've shot many times before...). So I wade the creek and set a soda can up on the opposite bank. Both kids take turns nailing the can and I turn and look at my wife and she is beaming ear to ear at their success; this from a woman who is not anti-gun, fully supports my views on firearms, but has never shown an interest in firearms, and admittedly has never pulled the trigger on one.

Then, the unexpected happens. She says, "I think I can do that." I have asked her many times before to go shooting with me and she has always declined. So, with a little coaching, I let her take her first shot, and then a second, and then a third, and then I lost count. WOW! A grin swept across her face and she said, "That's kind of fun. I did pretty good huh!" Then the questions..."What kind of rifles is this? What type of bullet does it shoot?, etc."

Wow! Life is good! :thewave

That is a fantastic reason to feel good!
I'm in the same boat. My two daughters like to shoot but their Mom doesn't have any interest in it. Not an anti-gun but no desire to even try it.
Congratulations again!
