I would like to introduce my self and say I'm so glad I found this forum. I stumbled in here a couple of days ago, and have already found tons of useful info.
I am a 55 years old male, I live in College Station. I am a sales mgr. and have been luckey enough for my wife to keep me for these last 26 years. I am waiting for my chl to arrive. I was really into shooting for a long while, then kinda set it aside, I stopped shooting matches about 8-9 years ago, but am thinking about getting back into it just to regain some speed. I was a NRA instructor for pistols, self protection, and shotguns for many years, but let that expire by accident. I attended the American Pistol Institute in '84 while Col. Cooper still ran the place, then attended a class with Clint Smith, when he had International Training Consulents, before the Thunder Ranch days, wow, that really make me OLD doesn't it.
Anyway, I look forward to learning much from here, and hope that I can give some thing back to this forum.

All guns have at least two safeties. One's digital, one's cognitive. In other words - keep the digit off the trigger until ready to fire, and THINK. Some guns also have mechanical safeties on top of those. But if the first two don't work, the mechanical ones aren't guaranteed. - me

No my wife does not have any interest in getting a chl. She has no problem with guns, but doesn't think that she could actually shoot anyone for any reason. After all these years, I have quit bugging her about it. She did take one of the classes I taught 10 years ago, and shot pretty well for no handgun time. She used to squirrel hunt some and was good with a 22, but gave that up many years ago.
On the other hand, my daughter, who is 25 now, is going to get her chl soon. She started shooting a 22 when she was about 12, then moved up to shooting my Clark Combat .45 gov't model. Then she went to the Colt Officer model, and liked it much better. Guess there is no explaining young girls, huh. She actually taught me a better way to teach reloads for people with small hands, which I used in some later classes. If anyone needs this info I will be glad to post it.

Another welcome. This is an OK place to post this intro. You have a lot to offer & it will be well received. There are several ladies on the forum. You might post the small hands reload technique. If they do not NEED it my wife could use it & I am always looking for things for the small ladies. Have coached several through CHL. I am interested.
