I just saw this on the BassPro website and thought I would pass it on....

The link is quite long...just go to BassPro, select San Antonio, and look under store events.... here is the post:

Free Gun Evaluations
May 3rd
Gun Evaluations
FREE gun lock to the first 25 evaluations done (one per customer).
Our gun smiths and traders from the fine and used guns departments will be on hand to evaluate your firearms. Has your hunting rifle been in storage a long time? Is that old gun you inherited from your family member safe to fire? Do you have firearms you would like to sell or trade? Find out more about your gun; is it in need of repair? Trade or sell with confidence. All types of guns (all types of rifles and shotguns, any calibers; not sure what you have? Let us help you find out).
Please be sure all firearms are unloaded for inspection and evaluation. Our staff will be able to make professional recommendations on your firearms while you wait.
Saturday, May 3rd from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm in the lobby.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity for abuse. If you go to this "event", make sure that they aren't taking down personal information and/or firearm serial numbers.

I am scared of empty guns and keep mine loaded at all times. The family knows the guns are loaded and treats them with respect. Loaded guns cause few accidents; empty guns kill people every year. -Elmer Keith. 1961

sounds like a chance to do the ole' shade tree mechanic trick to get you in and convince you your gun is unfit to shoot and in great need of repair they would be happy to do for cheap since you already showed up an all.

i'll pass and take it to my usual gun smith.
