Re: bounty hunters
Any place that offered armed security will gladly help you through the process. *They* will help you fill out the forms, *they* schedule the classes, etc. It is not something you need to do before hand. Just when you apply make it clear you wish to be hired for commissoned work.

Re: bounty hunters
How about a police academy? Have you considered becoming an LEO? I'm sure you could work your way to a SWAT team and get to serve high risk warrants and such. And, no offense intended, but sometimes bounty hunters aren't really looked upon with high reguards. Being an LEO would keep that stigma off of you.

Lunchbox-
You are so negative and defeatist (at least from what Ive seen in this thread). Just about every idea someone has put out for you is "too hard" for you in some way.
When you figure out what you want to do, then you will figure out how to get there.

Re: bounty hunters
welcome to the results of a bad economy. Yes, you are competing for jobs with people who are WAY overqualified and qualify way over you. I got a 2yr degree, and in my senior year for a bachelor's. No one will call me back except places Im overqualified for. Yea, they want a guy with a degree and years of experience working for the same pay he made 5 years ago. One place I went to had a "hiring seminar" of about 120-150 people - us all fighting for 6 positions. Most of those people probably had more experience AND college than me. Think they bothered calling me back?lunchbox wrote:its just me man
and i spent 2 years and lots of money to better myself and borrowed a lot of money from family
but im stuck changin oil and doing state inspections for 10 an hour i was supposed to make 35-45 k my first year im on poverty level and have been out of school for almost 2 yearsnot that i dont get up in the morning to go to work cuz i do im up at just after 5 am and i get home after 7pm and waist over 100 bucks a week on gas i cant get ou of the hole im in this way
sorry but you pushed my buttons
boo-hoo, I lived with my mom until about 22 - and then she kicked me out despite me paying rent. Could be worse bro.lunchbox wrote:on onother note because of all this stuff i mentioned im 21 almost 22 and i live with my parrents yeah this is the american dream let me tell you. and lord help us all if the dems get elected
ok, ive been in the security field for about 5 years now - you could call it a "career"melkor41 wrote:Become a *commisioned* security guard, there are tons of companies all over the state hiring.
21, clean record, can pass the qualifier, etc they would kill for ya.
I have a few friends who do it, pays $15-18 an hour in the DFW area. Some places make you pay for your own commission class, some pay for it with an advance on your paycheck.
Use that to get on your feet until you can do what you want to do for a living.

The fact is though, IMHO, that the security industry is TERRIBLE to get into. Truthfully, the only thing that will make the security industry profitable again is another terrorist attack on U.S. soil.
most commissioned guards here make the same as non-commissioned - $10/hr to start IF you are lucky. Ridiculous! Took me five years and countless tries to get in my current position paying almost as much as your friends do - but when the security contract expires (next week), Im either unemployed or taking a crappy $10/hr entry level security position again.
