Gear for my new carry gun?

Post by Tactical_Texan_CHL »

I'm looking for some good magazine holders for 1911 mags now that I've taken the plunge to 1911 compact for my primary CCW. I've got some for my Glock, but obviously, they won't work now! What are some general preferences you guys have? I'd like to go kydex. Probably IWB mag holders if somebody makes them. Any suggestions? I'm pretty happy with my DeSantis Scorpion IWB holster. I'm not sure of its durability, but that can be replaced with a Comp-Tac or something later if it becomes an issue. It's comfortable and wears well all day long, so it'll do for awhile. I have a leather rig for my full sized 1911 with matching mag holder, but I'd like a black kydex instead. I also have an Uncle Mike's double mag paddle holder, but that thing is GIANORMOUS! Great for the range, but a little bulky for all the time use. Thanks in advance for any help.

Look at what High Noon has not Kydex but some good stuff also, check Don Hume.

Not the best for all situations, but I have a couple of these Bianchi Accumold dual mag pouches, one for 1911 and one for double stacked mags.

I like them because they can be worn vertical OR horizontal. They are not as quick to access as an open leather pouch but worn horizontally they conceal completely under my untucked shirt.

Nylon or leather knife pouches can conceal a mag without drawing attention, unless knives are also verboten. On some, the sides don't extend high enough to completely disguise the mag.

Galco makes an IWB tuckable mag holder.

I use a Conp-tac, but it's OWB. They don't make an IWB model, and I have never seen an IWB kydex mag holder. Of course that doesn't mean there are none.

Worst care scenario - buy a left handed comp-tac mag carrier and wear it IWB on the left side.

I have an old cell phone holder that does the trick for me. It even has the Aggie sign on it. :smilelol5:

I have 2 of these from D.M. Bullard for my Kimber UCII. They work real well for me.

Annoyed, those look pretty good. That's about what I was looking for. I had intended kydex to match my holster, but it's IWB, it doesn't really matter since noone's ever going to see it! I guess I'm a retard sometimes. Asleep, I'm actually going to be in College Station this weekend for graduation! My sister-in-law is graduating with her bull in Aerospace Engineering. She'll soon be taking her first job in Kalifornia. I'll probably order me some of those. I like the Comp-Tac's also. I may get both so I have some options. Thanks.
