If it's not posted you're OK. The Ocean Technology Conference doesn't sound like a professional sporting event to me.

When I was there a couple of months back I saw no postings for Reliant Stadium but did see non-compliant "no firearms" verbiage posted up high (like above your head) on the glass at Reliant Center entrances. I carried into both facilities...

Their policies on their website state that firearms are not permitted, but there is nothing close to 30.06 notice. Also, their site lists the owner as the Harris County Sports and Convention Corporation, which the Harris County official website lists as one of its "Boards and Task Forces." In other words, it is apparently owned by a government entity, so 30.06 would not be enforceable in the opinion of most on this board. Since this is not a professional sporting event, carry away.

IMHO and IANAL, of course. :tiphat:

So has anyone actually carried at Reliant Stadium for a concert or other event besides sporting? I am going this weekend and wanted to be sure before I "loaded" up, so to speak.

Yeah I was kind of wondering the same. Going to see George sat. The last time I was at a concert security used a wand to check. I think I'll just lock it in the trunk and have a good time. :clapping:

If they're anything like the AAC up here in Dallas, they've got metal detectors installed and use them all the time. The place isn't posted that I've seen yet, but I don't think anyone but an LEO is getting though the "front door" with a gun.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Reliant park is supposedly owned by the Harris County Sports Corporation, which appears to be a Government Agency.
http://www.reliantpark.com/HCSCC/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Listed here under County 'boards and task forces': http://www.co.harris.tx.us/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If this is true, then 30.06 Doesn't apply. At all. They can tell you anything, doesn't matter, it's government owned property.

This would be a GREAT location to do a videoed walk through the metal detectors, when there was Not a professional sporting event going on there.
Remember, if they ask you to take out your handgun, "I'm sorry sir, I cannot do that, as it would be a violation of law to intentionally not conceal my handgun" :mrgreen:

Only way to be sure would be to go here: http://www.cclerk.hctx.net/rproperty.HTM" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and pay the fee to get a copy of the records stating who owns it.

You can search the HCAD site free. http://www.hcad.org/Records/SelectRecord.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
You might want to start with the following address search: 8324 FANNIN ST
"Ees gun! Ees not safe!"

I'm going to be there for the exact same reason. The fiance and I are going. I don't recall there being metal detectors during the rodeo and it was a sporting event. They didn't have them at HGCA either, just the 30.06 sign.
