In the latest TSRA Sportsman journal, there was a nice article:
"A look At a Hero: Mark Wilson", by Robert Langham
It's well worth reading.
One new piece of info the article was the fact that Mark Wilson first opened up on Arroyo Sr. at a range of around 20yards.

I tell people that my CHL is only for protecting the lives of myself and my family, but who knows what I will do if I am ever placed in a situation like Mr. Wilson where I might be called on to save a stranger's life. I can only hope that I can have the courage and honor to follow his example.
And the opportunity for a head shot.
And the opportunity to continue to provide for my family.
Mr. Wilson is one of many brave men and women that have paid the ultimate price on behalf of someone unbeknownst to them. I am deeply greatful for them all and their sacrifice, as well as those who continue to risk that price in the same pursuit.
Paladin, thanks for posting this writeup. It had the best details of Mark's portion of the shooting that I've read to date.

Thanks for the link. I have really wanted some more information on the shootout. That fills in some gaps that the major media overlooked or ignored.
Mark Wilson should be remembered as a hero.
Question for your consideration:
As a CHL holder, do we hold more responsibility than before toward the general public.
ie
Was Mark Wilson morally obligated to exchange fire with the gunman? MW would have been fine had he stayed in his loft, he initiated the firefight with the gunman.
As a holder of a Texas CHL and carrying a firearm, are you morally obligated to intervene on behalf of a stranger in trouble?
I believe that a person is. By accepting the responsibility of going throughout your daily lives armed with a handgun, you have also accepted the responsibility for the safety of those around you. Does that mean that a person with a CHL should get in a firefight with one carrying a rifle? Probably not, but that's what makes Mark Wilson a hero. I only hope that I could have the same courage as he did.
I wish that he would have had the forethought to grab a rifle. This tragic incident would have had a very different outcome.
