Range report, Kimber Ultra Covert II
Well, I snuck out for lunch and shot a few rounds through the new Kimber. I shot 100 rounds of 230gr WWB, and 20 rounds of Hornady 200gr XTP. It REALLY likes the XTP. I forgot to take the camera with me. It was kind of an unplanned excursion. I always have targets in my truck, and was digging under my back seat looking for something and came across the 2 boxes of bullets. I took it as a sign! I grabbed an empty paper box from the office to staple the targets to and ran out to the pit in a hurry. In the first magazine, I had 2 FTF's, and 3 times the slide failed to go into battery. Second mag, only had 2 failure's to go into battery. I finished 50 rounds, then cleaned it with only one more malfunction, this time a FTE. I put the next 50 WWB's through there with no more malfunctions. I cleaned it again, and put 20 of the Hornady's through. It really likes them! I only shot out to 15 yards, but it'll shoot a 3 inch grouping at 15 yards easy. I'm sure it's capable of more, but I didn't have time to really shoot alot and find out. It was good for a fast and furious test. I'll finish the break-in soon and next time, remember to take the camera.

If it were me, I would throw away the Kimber mags and break the gun in with Wilson Combat Mags ONLY.
Oh,......it is me.........
I only use Wilson Combat Mags in all my Pistols that Wilson makes them for.

I'm just curious....
Kimber is a first class pistol, so why wouldn't the magazines be first class as well?

I have some Wilson's for my full sized Kimber Raptor. They're great, and that's what is in it right now. But I also have the factory mag, and 4 Chip McCormick 10 round power mags loaded with the gun in the safe. My newest Kimber came with the one magazine, and they threw in 2 stainless Kimber compact mags also. Still don't know why Kimber only provides one magazine with their new guns! I'd have bought some Wilson's if they had them in stock at the time. But I'm not against Chip McCormick's or factory Kimber mags. I didn't have any problems with the factory mags today, and I haven't with the one that came with the Raptor either. The Wilson's are great, but so are others, IMHO.
