A reminder of why I carry everywhere I can

Post by InfoTechCHL2007 »

It's been a while since I've posted on this forum, even though I peruse it on an almost daily basis.
That being said, I thought I would pass on the events of last evening which serve as a reminder to me (and to my wife) of why I carry every day and everywhere I legally can.
Close to 8:00 last night, my wife and I and my two boys were standing in line at the local pizza place waiting to pay so we could start into the buffet line. While we're standing there, two young women escalated an argument which I have to assume began some time before, proceeded to scream obscenities, and quickly moved up to a slap-a-thon. Management staff stepped in quickly enough, separated the two (the loud one had her boyfriend standing by and the other had a friend). I and my family were behind a waist-high wooden partition at the time, and my wife basically told the kids to get behind us (she told me later she was ready to get down as well).
Long story short, with shoulders squared I watched both parties separately exit the premises.
My concerns at the time were first that they were fighting in close range of the silverware/potential weaponry and second, since the one who was most upset left first and headed to the car, that she might come back in with a weapon of her own and finish what she said was "so on". You just never know after people cross the line of rational behavior.
Fortunately, none of my concerns became reality, but I mentioned to my wife that by being armed, I was actually able to closely observe the events without becoming alarmed/fearful - just alert and ready. Since those situations sometimes can go south in a hurry, I am thankful that I carry and am ready and able to take action, just in case those I love are suddenly in danger in the middle of someone else's fight.

Must have run out of the chicken wings and one of them women took the last... man I hate when that happens.

Otherwise glad to hear things were deescalated or removed without further incident.

yes, I agree, Wings rule. I'm a drums only man, myself.
I believe the OP was in a CiCi's Pizza, though it doesn't say.

Good guess. The altercation did occur at the local CiCi's.

I've actually seen people get testy at buffets over this very thing. Hunger is colorblind. :biggrinjester:

I guess I'll toss in a bit of sexism just to even things out....

What I find disturbing about these sorts of occurances is the realization of how belligerant so many young (mostly) women are becoming in the U.S. (possibly elsewhere as well.) It's particularly noticable in the overtly aggressive and obnoxious driving habits so many of them exhibit every day. I find this disturbing because although we expect - rightly or wrongly - that sort of thing from testosterone-driven men, for ages women were the gentle moderating influence that tended to calm us and prevent us from killing one another over minor perceived slights. Now that women are become more and more likely to engage in such ridiculous behavior themselves I have to wonder what this will mean for civility of our society at large.

Some of those women look like they have fairly high testosterone levels.
