Ballistics?

Post by TexasComputerDude »

hey all, I was wondering, are there any websites out there that benchmark the ballistics of bullets and the guns used?

for instance, I would like to know whether the .45 rounds from my glock 30 or 1911 will travel through a wall, a piece of thin aluminum? steel? wood? brick? flesh? well you get the idea.

I ask this question because if I am ever put in a situation where I have to use my weapon I would like to be 100% sure of what my rounds will do. Will they stop the person trying to kill me? or will they stop him and still have enough power to damage whatever is behind them.

I guess if there isn't a website available with the information that I want maybe I should start one lol.

Your welcome, its an awesome website...ballistic tests, gun reviews, forums, and tons of pictures. Can't ask for much more than that.

Sorry, there is no such guarantee. A .25 can penetrate a wall and kill the baby next door. A .45 hollow point evil black bullet can still bounce off a skull bone.

true, but it still pays to learn about what they might do.

If you want to really learn what bullets will do then you need to read all three of the "Stopping Power" books by Evan Marshall and Ed Sanow. All their data is real world and relevant to self-defense. Sites like Box 'O Truth, although entertaining, have little real world relevance. For a website that will open your eyes try http://WWW.STOPPINGPOWER.NET Many of the people who post there have actually been in gunfights and or have participated in autopsies and investigations of deadly force encounters.

The only thing 100% sure about ammunition performance is it ain't gonna perform 100%.
