Drew my gun on an intruder today

Post by GlockenHammer »

I'm fighting off a cold, so I stayed at home today as a courtesy to my office mates. Enjoying the freedom denied me on days I work (I am not even allowed to have my gun in the car at work), I was carrying my pistol in the house. I was working in the office when I heard the back door open. No extra noise, no "yoohoo". A quick look at the watch confirms it is too early for the wife or kids to be home. I draw and conceal behind my leg as I peer around the corner of the office door.... and there is my Mother-in-law who was trying to be quiet in case I was sleeping.

:totap:

So, I ease back into the office, reholster and step out to meet her, she never knowing a gun was anywhere about.

I thank God for two things right now. First that I didn't need my gun and second that I live in TX instead of D.C. so that I can have it just in case.

:txflag:

Peace to you.

Some folks might consider that a missed opportunity. :biggrinjester:

Sorry to hear you're under the weather. Get well soon.

Definitely a missed opportunity to remind the mother-in-law that it's unwise to let yourself into someone else's house unannounced.

I drew on my dad once because he came home at an off hour to get the cell phone he forgot. My dad heard the slide rack from the other room and drew himself because I wasn't supposed to be home from school until the next day. The only thing that kept us from doing something stupid was that the dog didn't seem too upset by either one of us being there, so we just called out and figured out who we were dealing with. From that day on we had a system for announcing ourselves to the rest of the house if it was an odd hour.

As for the mother in law, maybe some sort of cowbell is in order..... :smilelol5:
