Where do you carry.............

Post by ProudNativeTexican »

your ID in your vehicle? I have my CHL & ID together in my money clip/wallet and normally carry it in my front right pants pocket. Being that it is my strong side and have a IWB @ about 4:00 I am sure to not raise my shirt tail very high when I get my reach into my pocket. I have not really had a problem about this so far. But my real questions is more about when I am in my vehicle. It can be a little hard to reach into my pants pocket when I am sitting in my truck so I have been trying to figure a better place to carry my ID when driving in case I need to get it. If I am wearing shirt with chest pocket many times I will just place my wallett in that pocket. But lately I have just been putting my wallet above my sunvisor or cup holder. The only problem I have been having with this is I seem to forget it in my truck.

My simple solution has worked for the last 5 years. CHL and DL + Vehicle insurance cards go in a small ID case in my shirt pocket. If pulled over it is very easy to access my ID and I don't have to dig through my wallet for anything.

I also switched my wallet to my left rear pocket. This arrangement give me easy access to my ID and I do not have to risk exposing my sidearm (strong side carry) when accessing my wallet at the grocery store.

DL and CHL together in my wallet...Proof of insurance above my visor in a organizer I put up there.

I also keep my wallet in my shirt pocket.

If I don't have a shirt pocket handy, there is a little place in the floor console I keep my wallet in. If I'm pulled over, the officer can see it in the console when I get permission to reach for it.

I've always carried my billfold (except for a long period when I didn't carry one at all) in my left, rear pocket. But perhaps that's because I'm in my right mind. And before the question get's asked, I shoot right-handed so that's not interferring with my strong side.

The current one may not even qualify as a billfold thought. It only holds cards, with a slip pocket on each side. One side will be DL & CHL. CHL reversed so that it won't inadvertently show when I'm removing my DL.

Yeah, I just recently started hiding mine. So many stores/clubs want to see your DL out of any holder. I had one guy recognize it as "That Red Card" and referred to it as "The only ID I need to see" (jokingly). It was then that I realized having my CHL face-up behind my DL was not the best way. That just happened 2 days ago. Yesterday, I cut a piece of paper ID card size and stuck it between the two. I can still get my CHL out by pulling from underneath and I don't have to show off the CHL when I pull out my DL.

I have a tri-fold wallet with ID section in the middle. Strong side rear pocket. I figure if I'm in a position where I need the CHL, I'll need to reholster anyway. (LEO's about) =-]

I work at a bank, and ask for 2 forms of id all day, I am pleasantly surprised how many chl’s I see hiding be hind DL’s . however (and understandably) no one ever uses it as their 2nd form,

If the meeting goes well, and I read the customer well, I tell them that I also have a CHL, and noticed theirs, and the should flip it over (FACE DOWN) so it’s less visible to people who don’t need to know it’s there.

I keep my id and CHL, in my wallet, strong side next to my gun (IWB) I am more worried about forgetting or losing it than I am offending a leo asking for it. Been pulled over twice and no problem, I am by the book.

In my wallet. weak side back pocket. It's a simple lean to the right to get to it, and it is opposite my gun, so there's no chance of accidentally failing to conceal in the process. I'm not concerned about accessing my wallet with super speed, like many others seem to be. If an officer stopping me is at my door before I have the time to pull a wallet from my back pocket, there's probably other things to be concerned about. The DL and CHL reside in different wallet compartments right next to each other, and the CHL isn't visible (except the very edge) unless I actually pull it out.

+1 Here.

Actually I started doing that when I was 18, so by the time I got my CHL I would be used to it. +

I don't move my wallet when I'm driving. If a cop pulls me over there's lots of time to get my papers for him.
