Li identity solutions continues to be bogus. I got this from a student today.
"Hey Guys!
Heads up!
The L-1 Identity Solutions Office (digital finger print place) here
in Waco seems to be hit and miss. I went by their office this
afternoon and it was closed. I had just decided I would check them
out without an appointment. There was a lady waiting in the hallway
that had a scheduled appointment. As it turned out it was her third
scheduled appointment that no one had bothered to show up for...
Man, was she was (angry)! Anyway.... This lady called the 800
number (listed on the door) on her cell phone and let them have
it!!! She scheduled another appointment for tomorrow. This lady is
a new realtor and is required to submit the digital finger prints
deal for her license. What a (mild expletive)! The folks in the office
across the hall said it happens all the time and that there have
been a number of angry people that whole morning and yesterday and
several other days... according to them. So! Look out! I hope you
had a better experience if you chose that route....

Yeah, I had similar feedback from a student last week. The "employee" in Dallas office was a no-show the day of his appointment and several others with appoitments before his had given up and left. He said he got lucky by sticking around, that they did get someone else to fill in for the day and he was then completed pretty expediciously.
Being "locked in" to a fee of just $9.95 per person (by their own proposal to DPS with what I believe is a 3=year contract), I can certainly see how the operation would have to be run very efficiently to stay out of the red ink. An ya know the old saying, "Good help is hard to find."
I don't know that "scam" is the proper word, but then again maybe so, particularly if one does some deep digging into certain arrangements some State agencies seem too think they have to make with "HUB"s (Historically Underutliized Business) and/or businesses that lock into using such as a prime subcontractor as a condition of the deal ... There might just be a reason some are "underutilized"

I hadn't heard about that. Funny though, It makes sense. In Holland a few years ago, the government was buying and warehousing unsellable paintings to keep the artists from feeling bad. they even bought a fishing boat for some women of alternative gender preference because the mean old fishing industry made it hard for them to break into the business.using such as a prime subcontractor as a condition of the deal ... There might just be a reason some are "underutilized..
Re: finger print scam
That is incorrect. There is no such requirement for a Real Estate Sales license. (Been there, done that.)mec wrote:Li identity solutions continues to be bogus. I got this from a student today.

Could be for something else, maybe for a Multiple Listing Lockbox Key (but I don't know) or some such.

Chas.

Fingerprinting is required for all TX real estate brokers and agents now, not just new agents. It has been a requirement in several other states for quite some time.

Re: finger print scam
At the last instructor recertification I attended, one of the people thought that this outfit was claiming to electronically transmit the prints to DPS- I believe there is/was some general language to that effect on their site. DPS said this is not accurate as dps is not set up to receive electronic transfer.
Our local sheriffs department quit doing prints for the public under the impression that this is a legitimate business. They now just refer applicants to this outfit.

The original name of the outfit (and contract holder with DPS) was "Identix". I think they were bought out, merged, whatever and are now operating under the new name. IIRC, correctly, they are somewhere over two years into a 3 year contract that had some pretty stiff language in it regarding "services" they were to provide statewide in effort to take some of the pressure off local law enforcement offices.
It's been well over a year ago, but I spoke with a lady at DPS in charge of the whole fingerprint thing and she said their goal was to eventually get to the point of having both the CHL fingerprints and the picture taken there transmitted to DPS electronically. (Which would eliminate some time and expense for those of us who still use the old passport photo cameras.) More recently, I tried to chase her down to check on the status of that and was told it's still "work in progress" ...
With the problems the electronic outfit is having closing/moving offices and not even having printers in some of the locations, I would really like to know what DPS is doing about their having "partnered" with these guys. Reminds me of the old college poster adage: "Avoid sleeping with anyone whose problems are worse than your own."
