Re: Nitesighters
Well that's a lot cheaper than a set of tritium sights for sure, but it still begs the question: what do you do when you turned out the lights at 10 PM, and goblins invade your home at 4 AM - an hour past the 5 hours of glow time they claim for their sights? Up here in Grapevine, it's still dark at 4 AM. As they say themselves:
A guy at the range the other day showed me some Truglo fiber optic/tritium sights mounted on an XD. Those are real bright, even in day time; plus you can get greens for the rear sight, and red for the front. I think I'm going to get some for my Kimber, as in daylight, these aging eyes have trouble picking up the sights.
If I have to drive off goblins in the middle of the night, I'm not likely to have the time to shine a light on my sights to bring them up to speed. So, FWIW, my opinion is that these sights are very reasonably priced, and they are certainly a reasonable alternative if you can't afford tritium sights, but if you can afford tritium sights, don't skimp unnecessarily and buy these just because they are cheaper. If you have a bedside firearm for home defense, we recommend that you keep a UV penlight or bright LED flashlight with your firearm so you can quickly charge it if necessary.

I know that you (in particular) give good reports so I will anxiously await hearing of your success or issues.LedJedi wrote:Just thought some of you folks might be interested in this. I'm thinking about getting a set for me and the wife.

BTW, in case it isn't obvious to someone, these require CHARGING (with light exposure) prior to use. They would offer no help when waking in a dark room without a UV penlight or some such to quickly charge them before using them to repel intruders.
Do imagine trying to charge the batteries (only faster) on your ray-gun before use. This does not however make them a poor idea to try.

Re: Nitesighters
I honestly can't believe anyone would consider getting these.
1. These are not a permanent sight solution, so they can fall off at inopportune times.
2. These require "charging" before they are useful"
3. These can be "installed" improperly and off-center, making all of your shots misaligned.

They are $10. Your suggestion is $120. I see more than 100 reasons someone would consider trying them.BigDan wrote:I honestly can't believe anyone would consider getting these.

Do they make them (or any night sight) for the Kel-Tec P-32 without sending the slide to get milled (another expensive charge)?

Re: Nitesighters
I put some of these on my M&P they work very well. They have stayed on during several range sessions and cleanings. If I charge them before going to bed they are still glowing faintly in the morning. They aren't Tru Glo TFOs but they don't cost as much either.

How does one "charge" the Nitesighters?

Re: Nitesighters
Expose them to light.Oldgringo wrote:How does one "charge" the Nitesighters?
For $12 with shipping, I ordered a set today and I'll post pictures when they come in. Maybe a comparison between them and TFO and standard tritium.

Re: Nitesighters
Yep, i just ordered a set too. WAY cheaper than the tritium stuff and I dont like the idea that tritium has a short 1/2 life for that kinda cost. I'd rather stick the sites under a light for a few minutes before bed and get off WAY cheaper.boomerang wrote:Expose them to light.Oldgringo wrote:How does one "charge" the Nitesighters?

Will likely do a product review video.
For those of you who are curious what Herb was talking about, I occasionally do product reviews on my youtube page.

Re: Nitesighters
In the middle of the night at close quarters, you'll likely not be using sights anyway.

Re: Nitesighters
I may have come off as a bit harsh in my assessment, however I personally would be more than willing to pay $120 and have the confidence that they'll be ready to go any time I need them. I don't have to worry if I forgot the expose them to light. I'm waiting for mine to be delivered (should be early next week).boomerang wrote:They are $10. Your suggestion is $120. Please check out the videos on this page. This is a trained pistol instructor who runs these sights on every pistol he shoots and hands out. All you have to do at less than 10 yards is put the "golf ball" (the big dot on the Big Dot Sights) on the place you want the bullets to go. Once you learn the proper sight picture and practice with it, you'll see that these are truly Fighting Pistol Sights, not Target Sights.
Here's the link to the page where they sell them at Tactical Response Gear: http://www.tacticalresponsegear.com/cat ... ts_id=2120
I've only linked the Glock .40, as that's what I use, but the others are available as well.
The pdf of the Catalog is here: http://www.xssights.com/store/catalog.pdf Actual model list is on page 3 of the pdf (but page 2 of the catalog).

For models not represented, do contact them and ask about your model. They are really busy, but usually get to emails in about 2 days (did with me when I asked about Kahr sights).Target1911 wrote:Do they make them (or any night sight) for the Kel-Tec P-32 without sending the slide to get milled (another expensive charge)?
