I have my PIN but my check hasn't cleared

Is that normal? DPS received my packet in early May and I now have a PIN (with my app showing "Processing Application") but my check hasn't cleared. Will I be a lucky "gets it free" guy or what?

You never know. You might get it free. Then again, they may suddenly realize the payment was not received and stop processing your application while they go through the two week or more process of sending you a letter requesting payment.

Even worse if the check bounced.

If it were me, I would call them and ask. You would sure hate to have some kind of silliness hold you up at the last minute. It seems like they would have a way of checking on that issue since you have a pin.

Could it be, that due to the increased volume of applications, that DPS is now starting the application process without waiting for the check to clear? Previously, it appeared as though DPS waited for the check to clear before they started the application process, as everyone noticed that their payments cleared their bank shortly after DPS received their packet.

Ok...I called. Payment has been logged and it is still sitting in "Processing Application" status. I'm at 50 days now and am waiting till 60 days before I email / contact my rep and the Governor.

Be glad it's not Utah. It doesn't matter when they receive your application. Their clock doesn't start until they deposit your check or charge your credit card.
