Drive to airport

Post by bridog68 »

I have to travel to Brazil so I can't take my gun. Should I lock my license up with my gun and drive to the airport without it or keep it in my wallet with my DL. I would hate to loose it in Brazil. I think the law says if I am not carrying I don't have to have the license but I normally carry it all the time anyway.

You are not required to carry nor show it if you aren't carrying. It won't do you any good in Brazil. Leave it with the gun. Leave anything else that won't help you down there in the drawer too.

Leave it home. Good chance you'll get robbed down there and then you'll be waiting on a replacement.

Thanks for the confirmation, that's what I thought. I wish I could take the gun, probably more need for it down there than here. I plan on taking an old wallet with expired credit cards in case I have to hand one over the the BG's. Hopefully staying in the hotel after work will keep me out of trouble, but if one of those little Brazilian lady's wonts to show me around I might be tempted.

The beach areas are bad for muggings. Including shopping areas on main roads that are adjacent to the beaches. Groups of young men attack and rob people who are alone or in pairs. Best to go in a fairly large group when looking around. Don't wear any fancy watches or neck chains as they will attract them. The fake wallet thing is a good idea, but I have actually heard of them taking peoples clothes!
