Got a hammer that won't fall
I recently took my wife's Barretta Tomcat 32 to the range and loaded it up. I pulled back the slide to chamber a round, aimed and pulled the trigger and .... nothing. The hammer won't fall. I removed the magazine, cleared the round from the chamber and still nothing. Does anyone know of reputable gunsmiths in the Pearland/Friendswood area. I could send it back to Barretta but it may take some time to get it back. If its something easy I don't mind paying to have it fixed. If the smith recommends I send it back for warranty work I will. Anyone?

Re: Got a hammer that won't fall
Have you tried loading it by opening the barrel and loading through the barrel rather than by trying to chamber by pulling the slide? I would try that before sending it back.
Re: Got a hammer that won't fall
Does it have a magazine disconnect? Trigger seem to pull properly? Safety off?
Biggest questions... has it worked before?

Before you spend any money, it would be a good investment of time to read the manual carefully and see if there's anything you're missing. It's available online at:

Have you had the grips off lately? There's a tiny wire spring under there that very easy to get out of place.

This is why anytime you do any maintenance on your weapon other than basic field strip and cleaning it's important to check functionability of weapon to make sure it will still fire
It is said that if you line up all the cars in the world end-to-end, someone would be stupid enough to try to pass them

Glad it was an easy fix. No charge here, just trying to help out.
