OK to call DPS for application status?

I sent my application on April 17th so it has been only about 35 days. Now I see the article about the increase in CHL applications and the extra time it is going to take to process them and am wonderin' if I will ever see it. Is it permissible to call the DPS to check on the status of your application? Thanks

It is allowed, but I wouldn't do it until you get to the 60 day mark. They probably can't give you any information anyway, but that would be when they are supposed to be done. Don't feel bad if it takes longer than that though.

Thanks for the info. I called them before I read your post. Was told they received it and are working on it-no other info available. Guess I will wait some more

If it gets to a certain point,around 75 days maybe, it wouldn't hurt. One of my buddies called after 80 days to see where his was in the process and they said it was just sitting on the desk for no reason, already approved, just waiting to be issued.

For what it's worth, I called after 90 days and the DPS Officer was informative and courtious. I received my CHL Plastic 1 week later.
