Baylor All Saints in Fort worth

Post by tboesche »

POSTED! :mad5

Ok, Long story---On Tuesday, My pregnant daughter was not feeling well so we decided she visit the hospital. I load her up and drive to Baylor, this is where she will have her baby. As we get to the ER I notice there is lots of construction going on. I look all over and do not see a posting so I carry on into the ER, No problems, even had a chat with the security guard on duty. Daughter is fine. :anamatedbanana

Thursday, my wife is scheduled for "girl" surgery. As we are walking up to front entrance, there it is. What appears to be a compliant 30.06 posting. :headscratch I make the WALK OF SHAME back to the car and secure my Taurus in the center console. Later, after I am done fuming about it, I am down at the cafe eating and I see a security guard, different one from the other night. Being the sort that I am, I call him over and ask him about the sign out front and not one at the ER entrance. I explain that I never want to encourage anyone to post anything but this situation could possible get a fellow CHL in trouble if they pack thru the ER entrance as I did the other night. He explains that that they "must have taken the sign down during the construction." He claimed to be a CHL as well and then stated that, and I quote, "All hospitals are no carry zones anyway" :banghead: I tried to explain to him that unless they are properly posted that they are not "no carry zones". I then asked him what he would do if he caught someone carrying. He said he would either ask them to take the gun back to their car or offer to lock it up in his safe. :headscratch He never did ask if I was packin.

The wifes surgery went well and she should be coming home tomorrow. :hurry:

The institution that owns that hospital is Baylor University Medical Center. Thanks to our vaguely worded laws, it may be off-limits by statute. We have the same problem with the University of Texas Medical Branch.

Best wishes to the ladies in your life.

Many in the hospital administrative community believe that they are off limits. I went shooting with a CEO of a hospital the other day and gave him grief about his hospital being posted.

He said it was required by law, I said that it was not and if it was required by law that it would not have to eb posted anyway. (The hospital has 30.06 signs at all entrances that are compliant.)

My question is, Medical Residents are NOT students per the federal government (Medicare/ Medicade rules), so if the property is government owned and there are not classes going on, can it be off limits???? :bigear:

This issue has never been resolved in court. UTMB has its own police force, and they will arrest. I don't know about Baylor.

The problem is this is Texas and we make our own rules. This is one reason why the whole school carry needs to be addressed. We need to get rid of the school ban. Hospitals and their parking lots are dangerous places.

Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene is posted. I have not witness it for myself but it is listed on the Texas3006.com web site.
