I renewed there back in 2006. The class was okay - no real complaints...seems like we spent a lot of time on paperwork, but I suppose that is the nature of renewing.....perhaps I misunderstood but as I recall, the instructor said that if there were any "no guns" signs of any type that we should not carry. Which is what I did until this board enlightened me.

I know this post is old, but I would like to add my input about Texas Handgun Academy...

I am a new CHL applicant (May) and used them for my new application and range certification.

They provided everything needed for a new Application including the CHL packet (I did not apply online). Simi-Auto guns with ammo are supplied for an extra small fee (pays for the ammo, wear and tear on the guns) for those that dont bring a gun, photos, prints, notary of all paperwork and they have their own range on site. All this was a big plus in my book. Fingerprints are taken next door and are (like FAST) scanned, not rolled, photos are signed at that time also. I took one of the one day 10 hour classes and had all paper work, photos, prints provided and filled out before the end of class that night and had the packet in the mail the next day. They are on Plano Rd just north of 635 on the Dallas/Garland line and have a online website. The class I took was filled up to the number of lanes on the range. I had a very good experience, they allow drinks and snacks in class for the one I took does not break for lunch, they take breaks, but they’re short and sweat. There are also class times one can get where a lunch is taken... The price was well inline for an all-inclusive service as well. I was able to set a reservation for the day I wanted to take the class, online and received a confirmation E-mail the next day.

We had a couple arrive late in the final hours of the class to take there renewal test and range certification, all went smooth and all in the class passed. there was one guy show up for the new application class that had a background issue, that he ask about and was told he would not be able to get his CHL at that time..So he departed before class started.

I give them five out of five: :fire :fire :fire :fire :fire For the Great Service.
